            I intend to make a closing statement in a few days or weeks to close this effort in helping others understand my condition.

Medical Update #2

 

In Aphasia 8 Medical Update #1 I wrote: “In 2006, I was blessed to be present during some of the questions raised by Brother Jabril to Minister Farrakhan for the Closing The Gap book. This meeting between the two of them reminded me of that time period.” I’m referring to the meeting the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and Brother Jabril had on May 29, 2009 at the hospital.

Many people were grateful for Aphasia 8 Medical Update #1and some were surprised and wanted to learn more of what Brother Jabril is going through, so that it may, possibly, help them, in their health struggles. I felt the need, to not only talk about my witness of Brother Jabril’s health, but, since Allah allowed me to see a small part of what Minister Farrakhan went through, I must state my witness of him too.

In that May 29, 2009 meeting, I witnessed between Minister Farrakhan and Brother Jabril, at the hospital, Minister Farrakhan stated that his Saviours’ Day speech of February 2007, “One Nation Under God: The Confusion, The Guidance, The Warning” is very significant. I want to elaborate on what I witnessed. I saw his words from a medical standpoint, and as a follower of his.

In 2006, I witnessed the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan go through extreme constant physical pain, due to his health condition. I was blessed to see Minister Farrakhan everyday for 2 months in Phoenix, Arizona.

 That was in January of 2006 and February 2006, as he persevered in his illness. I again was blessed to see him for three more weeks in March of 2006 in Cuba. (As a doctor, I’m not going into the circumstances under which I saw him in Phoenix, except I was a part of the delegation party in Cuba.)

 On January 5, 2007 Minister Farrakhan went through a 12-hour abdominal operation. Within approximately 7 weeks, after his major operation, on February 25, 2007, he made it to the Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan and addressed a crowd of over 50,000 people. Allah, in the Person of Master Fard Muhammad filled Minister Farrakhan with His Spirit. This was during his sickness and recovery period. It took him six continuous weeks, to get that entire subject, out of him. Did his doctors really believe that he would be able to make that event—Saviours’ Day 2007? Look at all of the interviews he did right after Saviours’ Day 2007, containing powerful wisdom that required tremendous energy to express. There were some people, including reporters, who did not believe that he actually went through a major 12-hour operation.

Brother Jabril said, over the years, off the rostrum, that you could tell time by studying Minister Farrakhan. Brother Jabril said, at some point, he would make a statement about that, Allah Willing. I studied Minister Farrakhan and every word he spoke after his operation. What immediately came to my mind was 2 Corinthians 12:9, which reads: “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ ” (New International Version.) The King James Version goes like this: “And he said unto me, ‘My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.’ ”

I often think about why Allah permits some of us to go through what is called a ‘near-death experience’? I mentioned in Aphasia 8 that nobody goes through a near-death experience and comes out of it the same. How many, near-death experiences, did Minister Farrakhan go through? Why does Allah, take His Servant through near-death experiences? In simple terms, according to Dictionary.com, a near death experience is a frightening or threatening experience putting one at the brink of death. But there’s much more to this.

In October 2007, Brother Jabril was hospitalized for uncontrollable high blood pressure despite the fact that he was on multiple blood pressure medicines. December 2007 started his bouts with seizure disorder, due to a hemorrhagic stroke in February 2007.

In January 2008, Brother Jabril went into Global Aphasia. He was not able to comprehend words or speak, for a few days. After intense therapy in a Rehab center, for two weeks, he recovered enough to be discharged home. Then in May of 2008, that same event happened.  He did not go into Global Aphasia, this time, but he did go into respiratory failure and was on a ventilator for 24 hours. He was discharged after one week of hospitalization.

Exactly one month later, the same thing happened again. This time he was not unresponsive, but he was unable to speak or understand words. Because I was aware of exactly what happened the month before, I was able to instruct the emergency room physicians as to what was happening, with him, and what medicine he needed, immediately.

Just so happened, this time, the same emergency room doctor, who was on called the previous month, was on-called now. He was able to get the old records, from the medical record’s department, and realized that he was the one who intubated Brother Jabril, just the previous month. He came back into the room, and told me that he was the doctor, who intubated Brother Jabril. Brother Jabril immediately extended his hand to shake the Emergency room doctor’s hand, for saving his life. The Doctor and myself turned around to each other, simultaneously, smiled and said at the same time, “Wow, he’s speaking and understanding now!” That was his first response after receiving the medication.

In any case he was able to get the proper medicine he needed in time and within four hours he was discharged home.

Now, let us go back to Aphasia 8 Medical Update #1. I mentioned that Allah Willing, we would hear from Sister Monette, since she was present, in the room when Minister Farrakhan and his son visited. Here are her words:

“On Wednesday, May 28^th around 5:30 pm I was in the cafeteria finishing dinner at St. Joseph’s hospital which is where I am currently an RN student. As I exited the cafeteria, I saw Sister Doctor Patina. She told me, “Brother Jabril is back in the hospital” I was shocked. I knew, with his condition, that was always a possibility. But, it seemed so unlikely because he appeared to be doing so well. I let the doctor know that my shift would be ending very shortly and to please let me know if there was anything I could do. She gave me the floor number where he was and after my shift I went to go see him. He was intubated, meaning he had a tube for breathing, and his blood pressure was low.

“The following day I returned and had the honor of escorting the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and his two sons to Brother Jabril’s room, which was filled with a team of doctors doing their routine check up. I must take a moment here to inform the readers that I saw Sister Doctor Patina everyday during the hospital stay and I was very impressed with how she had a profound handle on everything. She was very professional, informative, and assertive with the doctors and nurses to insure that our brother got the best of care. I also witnessed their respect for both her and her knowledge of Brother Jabril’s condition.

“The initial visit between Minister Farrakhan and Brother Jabril was short as he was clearly affected by the Minister’s presence. Brother Jabril was trying to speak and communicate but the breathing tube made it impossible. After the visit, as I escorted the Minister and his sons from Brother Jabril’s room, the Minister mentioned (paraphrase) that he thought St. Joseph’s was a good hospital. His mood seemed to be a little more relaxed as well. It’s also worth noting that Brother Jabril was extubated later that day. Meaning that the tube for breathing was removed.

“The next day, which was Friday, the Minister and one of his son returned. I thank Allah for the privilege of being able to witness a very intimate meeting between the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and Brother Jabril Muhammad. The content of the meeting itself would be up to the Minister or Brother Jabril to reveal. But what was clearly evident to me was the love the Minister has for Brother Jabril. To be a witness of this meeting solidified for me the powerful bond between these two remarkable men. Brother Jabril’s condition improved substantially after the visit that day and in the days to come, that improvement was marked by his ever-increasing appetite.”

Aphasia 8

Medical Update #1

This is a confidential update regarding Brother Jabril Muhammad’s medical condition. Anything having to do with one’s medical condition is considered to be confidential. Brother Jabril wants to share this with the readers. Before this report was sent publically, I gave Brother Jabril a copy of it, for his review. For those of you who know Brother Jabril, you know that he is a “context” and “detail” person. As you read this report, the words that are in bold are the part that I omitted that he wanted included in this update. (He told me to please read The Final Call for his reasons. Smile.) He gave me these words today Monday June 8, 2009, the same day I wrote this report. He told me that his reason would appear, Allah Willing, in next week’s issue of The Final Call.

On Wednesday May 27, 2009, Brother Jabril Muhammad was admitted to the hospital. His diagnosis was unresponsive and seizure disorder. He went into respiratory failure while in the emergency room and was intubated. He was not breathing on his own. The emergency room doctors worked to stabilize his condition before transferring him to Neuro ICU. One of the emergency room doctors wrote in his dictated medical report, “He (Jabril) was admitted and was witnessed to have convulsions in the ER, now in respiratory failure and on a ventilator, without showing signs of recovery.” Throughout his medical records, other words to that effect were stated. He was in extreme critical condition, with his arterial blood gases “all over the place.”

I witnessed everything that took place in the emergency room helping the doctors help Brother Jabril. I informed them what medicines works best for him while he’s in this condition etc. I also witnessed that he was unresponsive, even to pain!

After I informed the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, from the emergency room, of Brother Jabril’s condition, he was very sorry to hear of what happen. Minister Farrakhan was already scheduled to come to Phoenix on another matter. So the next morning, Brother Minister and his two sons arrived at the hospital, straight from the airport. They arrived, in the room, approximately one minute or less after five or six Neurologists arrived in his room. I was in the process of giving all the doctors a complete medical history of Brother Jabril’s condition. I informed them of what medications and dosage of medications he’s taking; how often he has these episodes; how to prevent these episodes from getting to the point where he’s intubated etc, etc. They asked a few questions, which I answered and at one point, I politely advised them to decrease one of his IV medications and gave my reasons, which they agreed to do and they did. They also told me of their plans, of which I was 100 percent in agreement.

Minister Farrakhan witnessed Brother Jabril on the ventilator, hand strapped to the bed, to prevent him from pulling out his tubes. After the doctors left, Minister Farrakhan remarked, “I’m so sorry this happened to you, but Allah is the Best Knower. Brother Minister then leaned over to Brother Jabril and said in a loud voice, “Jib, get up out of this bed, we have work to do.”  Brother Jabril opened his eyes and immediately recognized Minister Farrakhan. Brother Jabril tried to speak, but choked and starting coughing because of the tube he had down his throat to help him breathe. Brother Minister then quieted Brother Jabril and told him in a soft voice that he will be back once the tube is removed from his throat.

Absolutely, Allah is the Best Knower. A few hours after the visit from Minister Farrakhan, Brother Jabril was extubated, meaning that he was taken off life support. Brother Jabril’s first words after being extubated was, “How long have I been here?” Because of the heavy sedation, Brother Jabril was given over the last 24 hours; he slept the rest of that day. He awoke the next morning around 5:00 AM and told me that he saw Minister Farrakhan, face to face and that it was real. He said that he saw him in “this same building.”  He then asked me, “What’s up?” [Keep in mind, Brother Jabril is just waking up from heavy sedation; from being on a ventilator—life support and he dose not realize that he is in a hospital.] But, one thing for sure, he told me that he knew that he saw Minister Farrakhan.

After orientating Brother Jabril to place and time, I informed him that he, did indeed, see Minister Farrakhan. I also informed Brother Jabril that he had a tube down his throat to help him breathe and could not talk to Minister Farrakhan although he tried and that Minister Farrakhan will be coming back this morning to see him.

Minister Farrakhan and his son Joshua came that morning to see Brother Jabril. I can say that I witnessed a very powerful and significant meeting between the two of them. Sister Monette, who works for me and is one month away from getting her RN degree, witnessed what she did. Allah willing, we’ll hear from her in Aphasia 9 (medical update #2). In the one-hour plus meeting, I could see that they were being affected by one another’s spirit. At the end, of their meeting, Minister Farrakhan actually mentioned that this meeting helped his spirit. I know, from a medical standpoint, that Brother Jabril was helped in many ways. I believe this accounted for his speedy recovery.

In 2006, I was blessed to be present during some of the questions raised by Brother Jabril to Minister Farrakhan for the Closing The Gap book. This meeting between the two of them reminded me of that time period. They were ready right then and there to go to work. As Minister Farrakhan told Brother Jabril on the first day of his visit to Brother Jabril, despite Brother Jabril’s condition, that “we have work to do.” That caused Brother Jabril to open his eyes.

I must make this very clear. I’ve heard rumors (even as of yesterday) that Brother Jabril is in and out of a coma. That Brother Jabril is “mentally off” due to the stroke he suffered in February 2007. Both of those statements are completely false and baseless. For those who continue to spread these kinds of rumors, over the last 2 ½ years, since his stroke, of February 2007, where is your proof? Remember what the Honorable Elijah Muhammad teaches us, that Minister Farrakhan continues to teach and remind us of, that, if you repeat slander three times you become a part of it.

 For those of you who have known Brother Jabril for however many years, he is still the same Brother. Well, let me put it this way. He is not the same Brother. Nobody goes through a ‘near-death experience’ and comes out of it the same. Brother Jabril had more than one ‘near death experience.’ Our Brother is stronger mentally. The part of his brain that was affected by the stroke was the part that controls speech. Brother Jabril can speak. Brother Jabril can write.  Brother Jabril can read. He has problems retrieving words, but if one is patient with him, he can get the word out that he is searching for. Please study conduction aphasia and go back over Aphasia 1-7 that he produced.

This Aphasia condition has absolutely nothing to do with intelligence. His intelligence is above average. He can make informed decisions for himself. I must state, for the records that a seizure that he just suffered, does not cause brain damage. I pray Allah that this short writing will clear up some of the major misunderstandings about our Brother’s condition.

I was talking to a few Neurologists at the hospital. All of us agreed that Brother Jabril has an above average intelligences and thought process. That part of his brain that processes thoughts and intelligences carries over to the language part. He uses many, what you called, “Coping strategies” to communicate due to his condition. Coping strategies are verbal or nonverbal methods of communicating used by people who have aphasia. He can make himself very clear when he speaks.

It’s been one week since Brother Jabril was discharged from the hospital. If you were to see him now, you would hardly believe that he, just a few days earlier, was seconds away from death and on life support. Many have told me that he looks even younger or healthier now, than he looked before this most recent hospitalization, even though he’s not out of it yet. In Aphasia #9 or medical update #2, I intend to go into this.

I agreed with Minister Farrakhan’s words, 1000 percent when he said that Allah is the best knower. I can say this; he is speaking better than he was before this most recent episode. All praises are due to Allah.

On June 4^th 2007, I changed doctors. I touched on this in my Public Statement dated August 2008.

I’m not going to go into the possible implications, but I learned that there are some—I have no idea how many—Believers believe that I was placed in a nursing home. There are others who think that I was in a wheel chair. Still, there are others who think I’m walking around in a state of various levels of gross insanity. (Smile.)

Those who believe that I am insane, I recommend such people write the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan as he is the publisher of The Final Call Newspaper that affects millions of people. Also, pray for me.

I was admitted to the hospital in October 2007, for three days due to high blood pressure. The high blood pressure medicines were not working. Adjustment in the medications was made. While in the hospital one therapist asked me if I was receiving speech therapy. I told her no. I then told her that I don’t know why I have not started speech therapy, but I am eagerly waiting to start. She then gave me a number to call and I called from the hospital room. It was arranged for me to meet the head therapist at ASU for a 2 hour evaluation.  After that, it was set up for me to actually start therapy in mid January of 2008.

Dr. Patina Muhammad studied my lab work and she saw that I was deficient in magnesium, due to stress over the years. That study is worth a powerful article out of which, a book can be written. That may help others.

 Millions of people have received vaccination when they were young. My vaccination scar that I got when I was four years old was affecting my heart. That vaccination scar was cleared and it lowered my blood pressure. I was very surprised. Then I had several brothers witness this. We were all in awe. This is worth an honest study. Many people have become rich by lying to the public in this area. Others die because of their ignorance in this area of knowledge.

         I was admitted to the hospital in November 2007 to have a hernia repair—surgery and released the same day. The following day, I was taken back to the hospital, due to severe stomach pains and they saw the need to open me back up. This was the first time I ever had surgery, beside dental surgery. And this was surgery back to back. 

In December 2007, I had a meeting with about 15 Believers in my home. It was my effort to educate others about what I was going through. I wanted them to learn about Aphasia. That was on my mind earlier that same year (in February 2007) while I was hospitalized. Later on, in that same month, I meet Barnar and his son at my mother’s house and took pictures. The following day, I was to take pictures of Barnar and his son with a different camera and different film.

Early the next day, I was introduced into a deeper understanding of my condition—aphasia. That understanding was not to come to me until after some weeks would pass.

Early that day, I was having coffee with three Believers and I, all of sudden, could not speak a word. I could see. I could think. But, I could not speak. I did not panic. I prayed. I was taken to the hospital.

My diagnosis, at that time was Global Aphasia, which is the worst form of aphasia and Complex Partial Status Epilepticus—a life threatening condition. The Complex Partial Status Epilepticus was a result of the worsening Aphasia. In other words, the condition I had got worse. I was in the hospital for seven days.

During the course of this hospitalization there was a big fight as to whether or not I was to be placed in a nursing home or go to rehab. The last three days of this fight, I gradually was able to see what was happening.

I still could not speak.  If I could describe what I saw, it was a serious, serious, serious tennis match going on between Dr. Patina and some other doctors. If she would have lost that “match” I would have been put in the hands of my enemies. I’ll explain later on, deeper. Meanwhile, this involves science of the brain.

I can say there are many people who mean well, but they can kill you out of ignorance. She won. She overcame the doctors. The therapists came with a different mind set. She explained to the therapist. After some testing and some deeper talk, they came to agree with her that I could benefit from therapy.  I went to rehab for two weeks.

Two main things happened. 1.  I started regaining my power of speech. 2.  I got chicken pox. It was not really noticeable until two days after I was discharged from rehab. Over the next few days, I went back and forth to the emergency room until it was finally diagnosed as Chicken Pox. Then visits to doctor’s offices, etc. among the efforts was to save my eyesight.

Towards the end of my horrible facial appearance, due to the chicken pox, I was able to enter into coffee shops. People looked. I drank coffee. As the days went on the monster look waned.  The looks became fewer. Minister Farrakhan came to Phoenix, and we spent hours together. He saw my “monster” look. He appreciated my spirit. I love my Big Brother. Our meeting lasted 4 hours. His spirit and wisdom should juice up anybody’s condition regardless to what it is.

In May 2008, I was admitted back into the hospital, with an effort to save my life. Dr. Patina saw something and rushed me to the emergency room. The emergency room doctor put me on a ventilator (life support machine). Same diagnosis as January, but this time, I was only in the hospital for seven days, this time no rehab was needed. I’m still going through changes, but I’m getting better.

Now it’s June 2008.  I’m recovering.  But, I’m back to the hospital, twice in the same day. In both cases, I was not admitted to the hospital. I’m getting better and better, but I’m still not out of danger. I’m also overcoming other aspects of the stroke; I suffered in February 2007, by the help of Allah.

I had the opportunity to see my big brother in September 2008.  At the end of our meeting, we discussed the possibility of me getting to Chicago for October 16^th Day of Atonement.  However, I did not pass the medical tests and had to watch my Big Brother on webcast.

On December 18^th an event occurred that shot my blood pressure up through the roof. I intend to tell you what it was in full, but not right now. But what it produced is vastly more important.

One: I asked Dr. Patina to give the public a concise view of what happened. Two: I hope this will help others who have high blood pressure.

I hope you will take the time to re read Closing The Gap. I refer to a set of Minister Farrakhan’s answers that all Believers should study and ponder. It begins on page 317. If you read my words, wherein I introduced section ten of Closing The Gap that  should help the reader to look deeper into why I asked him that question that opens that section.

(I intend to share a fact I learned from my son Elijah, earlier in 2007 that was confirmed by two Doctors later that year that pertains to my health that I hope will help others.)

Now, to this short statement from Dr. Patina Muhammad:

On December 18, 2008 Brother Jabril went through a very extreme stressful situation that caused his blood pressure to rise to 238/169.

Over the course of four days, and despite taking multiplies blood pressure medications, his blood pressure remained very high.  During the course of these four days, I began to re-research the effects of stress on blood pressure. I wanted to know, even deeper than what i already knew, what chemicals or hormones are produced by what organs/glands and how it affects blood pressure. I’ve done this research many times, in the past, but I felt that there still was something missing. I knew the specific event that led to his high blood pressure. And I know that under normal circumstances, whenever there is a period of high stress, in anybody, blood pressure naturally increases, but at the same time, in a reasonable amount of time, the blood pressure should return back to normal. In Brother Jabril’s case, his blood pressure did not return to normal.

This is what caused me to re-research high blood pressure from a circuitous or indirect route. That circuitous route led me to four different researches, which finally led me to the exact root, of Brother Jabril’s high blood pressure. I used these words “circuitous” or ”indirect” to describe this route because of two factors. It took years to get to the root of this problem. (He covered this in his public statement.) Then it took a specific event that triggered my research in a particular area that allowed me to come to the root, four days later.

On the fourth day of my research, I first came across this particular syndrome called Conn’s Syndrome or Primary Aldosternoism. I was stunned. I never heard of this condition before. I immediately asked myself–what does this have to do with high blood pressure? As I intensely studied further, I read in the article that the only noticeable symptom, of this disorder, is high blood pressure. After reading the first article, I knew, without a doubt that this is what Brother Jabril has.

Then over the course of a few days, I studied approximately 150 research papers, on this particular disorder. All of them states that it is a very rare disorder and that only about 1% of the population have this condition. I started to wonder to myself, is it really rare?

As I studied, I could see that some medical scientists had the same thought. Could it be one of those disorders or condition that is mis-diagnosed or under-diagnosed?

I was very thankful to Allah, for guiding me in this study and finally finding the root cause of his blood pressure problem and by correcting this problem—he could be free from high blood pressure. This could benefit many, many others who suffers from high blood pressure and is going through the same problem he went through.

It stated by many medical scientists, that if a person takes high blood pressure medications and is on more than two medications and still poorly control, then one should suspect Conn’s Syndrome or Primary Aldosternoism. Furthermore, it is stated that this condition do not respond to regular blood pressure medicines.

I immediately started treating Brother Jabril for this condition, which involves the adrenal glands. After giving him some adrenal glands nutraceuticals, within 1 hour, I started to see a significant drop in his blood pressure.

I recalled in 2007, after Brother Jabril suffered from a hemorrhagic stroke, he was put on 10 different medications, 9 of them high blood pressure medications, with the highest doses and the highest amount you can give a person, in a 24-hour period.

As a Naturopathic Doctor, my job is to get to the root cause of a problem, not just treat symptoms. Sometimes, symptom has to be treated, as with high blood pressure, to keep the symptom from causing other problems. But, while treating the symptoms, still, the cause should be found and addressed.

Conn’s Syndrome or Primary Aldosteronism is a disorder involving the adrenal gland. It can be a problem with one or both of the adrenals. It can either be a benign tumor or an enlarged adrenal gland. In any case, it causes the adrenal gland to malfunction. In cases where it is a tumor, the tumor can be removed and in the majority of cases, blood pressure returns to normal.

After assessing Brother Jabril’s adrenal glands, using a unique, simple, yet highly effective, comprehensive system of testing the reflex patterns of the body’s key organ and gland control points, called QRA—Quantum Reflex Analysis, his adrenal gland tested very weak. I immediately put him on a nutrition program to address his weak adrenal glands, which also consist of his hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis being out of balance. He stayed on therapeutic doses of specialized nutraceutical for this condition for 3 months. He is now on a maintenance program. His adrenal gland is now testing strong and his blood pressure has stabilized.

When the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan came to Phoenix in the first week of January, I informed him of this recent discovery and that we would like to try to make Savours’ Day. He sat and listened with a beautiful smile on his face. He was so happy to hear the news. I told him that we would still have to do a simple elevation test, to see if he qualifies to fly.

I contacted Brother Steven to see if he can drive us to Tucson—Mount Lemon. He agreed. We went and picked up Brother Arturo who lives in Tucson. Unfortunately, when we got to the checkpoint, the law enforcement officers turned us away because it was too much snow and the road was dangerous.

We tried going to another mountain, in Tucson, but had the same problem. So, the next week we decided to drive straight to Flagstaff. There was snow, but the road was in good condition. He passed the elevation test with a little adjustment made with his medications.

Now, we are just two weeks away from Saviours’ Day. It’s been seven years since Brother Jabril made a Saviours’ Day convention and that happened via train.

         All praises are due to Allah! Brother Marshall, Brother Jackie, Brother Jabril and myself made it to Saviours’ Day 2009. We arrived in Chicago a few days earlier. Only the first two days, did I have to make adjustments with his medications.

Dear Believers,

In September 2008 I had a PSA test done. From what you can see below the number was 18.3, way above the normal, which is between 0.0 and 4.0. Dr. Patina was shock to see that my PSA jumped so high in just 1 year. She decided to have me retested, which is the second test below. I accepted. I followed up with an urologist who performed a prostate examination and determined that my prostate was the correct size. After conferring with Dr. Patina and getting a history of my health condition, the urologist decided to wait and wanted to see me back in 6 weeks for a retest.

Dr. Patina informed me that she needs to go to work on me right away. She stated that all of her male patients who came to her for prostate cancer, every one of them had hernia repair surgery. I just had a hernia repair surgery in October of 2007. Dr. Patina informed me that she would have to “clear” the hernia scar using something called a medi body pack, because it was that scar that was interfering with my prostate. Dr. Patina explained to me in details what she meant by “clearing the scar,” but it’s too much for me to try to explain here.

I intend to make this clear for the benefit of others, be it the will of Allah. I also intend to follow up with my urologist and update the reader on this. Finally, I’m asking the reader what does this have to do with aphasia?

Of course I recognize that an accurate diagnose has to be made and that everybody situation, including timing or circumstances, is not the same. Also as you are aware there are new discoveries proven to be of great value, being made in all of the sciences everyday. I am among those who are benefiting from the improvements in medical science.

“Out of this “victory” I was discharged to a rehabilitation hospital, where I received intensive treatment for two weeks.  Then I was discharged. Since that time, by the help of Allah—I’m able to speak, but with difficulty. However, I am improving with ongoing treatments.

“I want to close with these questions. Is it possible that the medical professionals are overlooking the root problem of high blood pressure? What is the root reason why Black people in America suffer from high blood pressure more than any other group? Was it by design or from ignorance or from a combination of complexity factors?

“I learned something that is very profound about cancer and high blood pressure. Be it the will of Allah, I’ll get to this in Aphasia 5, which will be out shortly.

“I starting this writing approximately six weeks ago and finished it today January 16, 2009.”

I’m going to try to cover everything that is promised in this statement—especially the final paragraph of this article. But if I’m not able, I intend, by the help of Allah, to cover it in Aphasia 6. I am ending these writing as soon as I can.

Testimony Letter

I would like to share my testimony to let everyone know that Dr. Patina Underwood-Muhammad is truly amazing. I’ll give a little background so that you understand why I say this. My daughter was diagnosed with Asthma at the age of two years old. She was put on inhaled corticosteroids which can have terrible side effects which can cause more health problems in the future. 

Asthma is a chronic (long-term) lung disease that infames and narrows the airways which can make it very difficult for you to breathe. It causes recurring periods of wheezing which is a whistling sound when you breathe, chest tightness, shortness of breath and coughing. The coughing occurs at night or early in the morning. You clan never predict when this disease is going to attack you. So you have to be really careful and try to do everything you can to keep this disease under control. 

For a while, we thought we had this horrible disease under control. At the age of 10, my daughter, Jemila had a severe asthma attack. Her body was in such a distress that the doctors had to put tubes down her throat so that the machine can breathe for her because she was unable to breathe on her own. I never have been afraid in my life. I didn’t know what to expect. All I could do at this point was pray. I need to say that my prayers were answered. My baby girl made it through that horrible incident. 

One day, I started thinking that there has to be another way. The medicine my daughter is on now is not working. I was referred to Dr. Patina who is an ND and an Iridologist. I was told how she helped others that were very ill. I was willing to see what Dr. Patina had to say. After explaining my daughter’s health condition, Dr. Patina assured me that she can get rid of asthma. “Get rid of asthma?” I said, I then replied, “that is impossible.” I can remember Dr. Patina saying calmly, “you can continue with the medicines you daughter is on now, but pretty soon she will no longer need them.” I hate to admit this, but I was skeptical, as well as scared. I was worried that my daughter may never get better. I wasn’t really sure if Dr. Patina was going to be able to even help my daughter. First of all, I had never heard of treating asthma with herbal/natural medicines, which had no side effects or being asthma free. I always thought once you have asthma, you always have asthma. I was told by other doctors that my daughter will never be cured of asthma. One thing I knew for certain was that I have to do something about my daughter’s condition. I could not continue with the same old routine and expect a different result. Even though I was skeptical and scared, I did exactly what Dr. Patina told me to do. Jemila took every herbal medicine that Dr. Patina prescribed.

 I am glad that I listened to Dr. Patina. She was so right. I started to see positive results. Her skin started to clear up. She had a better appetite. She was able to participate in sports that she used to dream about participating in. Jemila’s lungs became a lot stronger. Just to give you an idea on how strong, she was able to participate in one of her favorites sports, such as soccer. This sport involves lots and lots of running. This means a great deal to my daughter and I because we both remember when she could not run at all without risking having an asthma attack. But now, I’m glad to say that is not the case! Not only did she get to play soccer, but she won her first medal in soccer.

 Just to let you know, I am no longer skeptical, scared or confused. I know for a fact that Dr. Patina was the answer to my prayers. Jemila, who is now 17, has become even stronger and healthier. She has come a long way. I have witnessed my daughter at her lowest point in health where she could have died. Dr. Patina has gone the extra mile to help my daughter overcome her illness which is still an ongoing process. Dr. Patina explains, “healing is like peeling an onion; you continue to peel the onion until there is no onion to peel.”

 I thank Dr. Patina for the excellent care she has given, not only to my daughter, but to my entire family. We are truly blessed to have a doctor such as Dr. Patina in our presence. Because of Dr. Patina, my daughter, Jemila is on her way to having an asthma free life.

As Salaam Alaikum Family,

This morning I had to rush my wife to the hospital after her experiencing some serious complications with Cesarian surgery. They said that she could have had a stroke(which was not true) and her headaches were so bad that we were in the ER. We saw and talked to four Doctors, and the Surgeon who performed the original surgery at the world famous Mayo Hospital in North Scottsdale. They gave her three choices this afternoon. Either continue to go thru pain (a ten on a scale from 1-10), stick a long needle in her back to and create a blood clot in her back (not proven to work in all cases), or medicate her with medicine that would also stop her from nursing our newborn. We refused it all …the Cat Scan, the medication, the stroke, and the needle. I explained the options to Dr Patina Muhammad and she had us come to her office in Phoenix. Ten minuets after seeing Dr. Patina  the pain subsided. It was as if a miracle happened. We came home, followed her instructions and my wife does not feel any pain whatsoever! I’m writing this to let everyone know that we should press hard to find natural cures. Thank you Dr Patina. I prayed for a cure and Allah sent it through you.

This is my testimonial of the wonderful health care I have received from Dr. Patina. When I first moved to Arizona, I was referred to her by my sister in law Charlotte Muhammad who was very much aware of my health problems. I had my first visit with Dr. Patina in 2004; I had chest pains (A history of heart disease runs in my family. Both my parents died of heart attacks), due to stress and anxiety, I also suffered with insomnia, low energy and high cholesterol.

For the past 4 years I was diagnosed with what the medical field calls athletes arthritis. This affected my pelvic and hip area so much so that every doctor said I would need a hip replacement.

I’ve been diagnosed with a lung condition, which turned out to be a thyroid goiter that grew back from a previous surgery in 1974 under my chest cavity. I have  been under Dr. Patina services for my health approximately three and a half years. With BPH or an enlarged prostate I have had problems over the years. I went to my primary care doctor, he sent me to the lab to test my blood, my PSA count was 5.9. The Urologist wanted to do a biopsy. I decided to try Dr. Patina first. She did the QRA method. I am a very satisfied former client of Dr. Patina of South Mountain Nutritional Center. I say former because she has reversed all of my health condition that caused me to seek her help, but I will call her if I had any other health condition or concerns. After having both my parents die under regular medical practices and believing that much more should have been done by their doctors to prolong their stay in life, I developed a disappointment in and distrust of regular medicine. I was delighted she was sympathetic to my views regarding regular medicine. I toughed my way through the first cold but was beset by the second cold in a matter of a few months as well as increase in the pain in my lower back and so decided I had bette get help.

Natural, I remembered Dr. Patina, and so decided to give it a try, especially given my impression of regular medicine. My first visit she assessed me and tested me and strongly told me I had weak kidneys, weak lung, and weak adrenal functions. She suggested that I go to a local lab for a complete work up including blood and urine analysis. Her suspicious were confirmed as the lab results became available.  She put me on a health program using dietary and herbal formulations to help my body heal. It worked. Over the course of a few months the lower back pain disappeared and I felt much more robust and even mentally clearer. As of this time, I have not had a return to any of the back pains that were caused by the kidneys and the adrenals nor have I had more of the colds that appeared to be setting up a pattern with me before I decided to go see Dr. Patina.

My name is Starla Muhammad and I and my 2 1/2 year old son have been clients of Dr. Patina Muhammad (no relation) since January 2006. I could not have asked for a more dedicated, caring and knowledgeable health care professional to care for my son and me.

My son Yusef had the tendency to catch a cold or flu in daycare/school as most children do. As a result, he would get fevers that resulted in seizures. Needless to say, this was extremely frightening, unnerving and of great concern. The diagnosis at the time was that I would have to have a hysterectomy and was in need of an emergency blood transfusion as my life was in danger. The doctors mentioned organ failure, and shutting down various bodily systems if I did not take the blood. It was all very frightening for both my husband and me. We were firmly against a blood transfusion as pretty much out of the question, except, as an absolute last resort. My husband taled to Dr. Patina and told her of these problems.

Dr. Patina told me husband of a remedy consisting of basic vegetables juiced together and to have me drink as much as I could as often as I could in order to strengthen my blood. My husband purchased a juicer and followed her suggestions. With the passing of a couple of days, I felt better as my husband kept a constant glass of this juiced vegetable preparation before me. Over the next week, I had another appointment to see the doctors I was seeing at the time and they were amazed that my blood count, which in just 8 or 9 days had gone from the dangerously low of 5 to a much improved 9. They asked if I had gone to another hospital and took the blood transfusion. Dr. patina aslo referred me to another medical doctor who would not be so quick to suggest hysterectomy.

Over the course of the next 2 months my blood count went to a 15 by drinking the juiced vegetable preparation and I was able to have a surgery performed by the doctors she had referred me to. The fibroids were removed with a hysterectomy or blood transfusion. On March 4, 2008 I accompanied my mother to meet with Dr. Patina for help with the health of her kidneys. The doctors diagnosed her with anemia and because her kidneys were spitting out proteins they had become damaged. On a scale from 1-5, 5 being the most severe, she was at a 3. Her blood cell count was also low. Her doctor indicated that through medication (prednisone), it could possibly stop the damage, but not reverse the damage. I am giving some facts that are not in the last writing.

         I was hospitalized in September 2007 for a left Inguinal Hernia repair. I am mentioning this because it has a direct bearing on “cancer.” I’ll explain in a moment. Then, I was hospitalized due to another problem, in October 2007 for uncontrolled hypertension. At that time the doctors stated that I was on the wrong combination of medications for my high blood pressure. (This is verified in my medical records, of which I have.) That amounted to seven months of being on the wrong medications. It had an effect on me. It was not good.

            In aphasia 4, I touched on why I was hospitalized in January 2008. It was not until January 2008 when I was in a rehab hospital that the doctors realized that one of the blood pressure medications—clonidine, I am allergic to. I was given this particular medication by mouth, (as well as a patch, that I worn 24 hours per day.)This added to problems related to my blood pressure, etc.

            But this all helped me. 

            I know this is long, but I hope you find it very interesting.

I am not going to get into the details what led Dr. Patina Muhammad to this information, at this time. But I hope you will find this extremely interesting and worth your time. Here are her words:

“When I first came across this particular syndrome, I was stunned. I immediately asked myself; what does this have to do with high blood pressure? As I studied further, the article states that the only symptom, of this disorder, is high blood pressure. Then over the course of a week, I studied approximately 150 research papers on this particular disorder. All of them states that it is a very rare disorder and that only about 1% of the population has this condition. I started wondering to myself, is it really rare?

“As I studied on, some medical scientists had the same thought. Could it be one of those disorders or condition that is mis-diagnosed or under-diagnosed?

“Immediately after studying about four research papers, I was convinced that I have found, by the help of Allah, the root cause of his blood pressure problem and by correcting this problem—he could be free from high blood pressure. I called Sister Monette, who is a nursing student and an employee of mine, Sister Lisa—Monette’s mother and Brother Joe—Bay area, I told them to study this syndrome—Primary Aldosteronism or Conn’s syndrome. I told them that this fits Brother Jabril 1000%. I mentioned to them that he has been accused by doctors, over the years, of not taking his blood pressure medications and doing drugs because the blood pressure medications is not working. Not to mention what I have been accused of. The medical scientist is stating in many articles that if a person takes high blood pressure medications and is on more than two medications and still poorly control, then one should suspect Conn’s Syndrome or Primary Aldosternoism. Now, here is the catch.

“Number 1, this syndrome is very hard to diagnose. Number 2, the doctor who usually can diagnose this syndrome is an Endocrinologist. Most doctors who deal with high blood pressure would not ever think to send you to an Endocrinologist. Number 3, most doctors do not even try to seek to understand why the blood pressure is high. Automatically, if doctors see a consistently high reading, you are put on high blood pressure medications. If it doesn’t work, then the dose is increased; Then the medication may be changed; Then if that still doesn’t work, you’re put on two; then increase doses, then another medication etc etc. For those of you who have high blood pressure this is a real scenario.

“Last year, Brother Jabril was on 10 different medications, 9 of them high blood pressure medications with the highest doses and the highest amount you can give a person in a 24-hour period.

“I’ve been trying to find the root cause of Brother Jabril’s high blood pressure for many years. After he had a heart attack in 2000, I changed his diet to a “Cardiac Diet”. In 2004 after getting my ND degree (naturopathic doctor) I put him on a special nutrition program to heal his heart from the effects of the heart attack he suffered in November 2000.

“From June 2004—the date I started him on a special nutrition program for his heart, to December 2005, while he was hospitalized for 5 days, undergoing a series of test (15) to determine why his blood pressure remains high, I learned (while Brother Jabril listening) from 5 different Cardiologists that his heart is healed and that he does not have to see a Cardiologist. All praises are due to Allah! That means I’ve done my job.

“I knew that his high blood pressure could not have been a problem with his heart. But, his blood pressure still remained poorly controlled. It was better, but I knew that with his diet and other things he was doing to improve his health, that his blood pressure should be well control. However, the Cardiologists recommended that he see a Neuro-Surgeon and a Neurologist. Still no Endocrinologist!

“Still this year, a doctor wanted him to seen him back to a Cardiologist, again to find out why his blood pressure is poorly control. He was even seen by Nephrologists—Kidney specialist who could not find anything wrong with his kidneys.

“As a Naturopathic Doctor, my job is to get to the root cause and care for the whole body, not just treat symptoms. Sometime, symptoms have to be treated, as with high blood pressure, to keep the symptom from causing other problems. But, while treating the symptoms, still, the cause should be found and addressed.

“Conn’s Syndrome or Primary Aldosteronism is a disorder involving the adrenal gland. It can be a problem with one or both of the adrenal. It can either be a benign tumor or an enlarged adrenal gland. In any case, it causes the adrenal gland to malfunction. In cases where it is a tumor, the tumor can be removed and in the majority of cases, blood pressure returns to normal.

“After assessing his adrenal glands using a unique, simple, yet highly effective, comprehensive system of testing the reflex patterns of the body’s key organ and gland control points, called QRA—Quantum Reflex Analysis, his adrenal gland tested very weak. I immediately put on a nutrition program to address his weak adrenal glands, which also showed that his hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis was out of balance.

“The Wikipedia encyclopedia states: “The hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA or HTPA axis), also known as the limbic-hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (LHPA axis), is a complex set of direct influence and feedback interactions  the hypothalamus (a hollow, funnel-shaped part of the brain), the pituitary gland (a pea-shaped structure located below the hypothalamus), and the adrenal  glands 

“The interactions among these organs constitute the HPA axis, a major part of the neuro-endocrine system that controls reactions to stress and regulates many body processes, including digestion, the immune system, mood and emotions, sexuality, and energy storage and expenditure. A wide variety of species, from the most ancient organisms to humans, share components of the HPA axis. It is the common mechanism for interactions among glands, hormones, and parts of the midbrain that mediate the general adaptation syndrome (GAS).”

Dear Believers,

            Last year Brother Cedric answered a question from me and here is his response. “At your bedside you asked me, ‘Brother, did I do this to myself?’ I did not feel you had 100% done this to yourself but I knew how hard you had been pushing prior to going into the hospital, and knew this may have contributed to your health problems.  So I answered by saying ‘Well…’ while nodding my head and body from side to side to indicate the idea of ’sort of’, ‘maybe,’ or ‘yes and no.’ In addition, since I am not a doctor I knew I was not qualified to diagnose your condition or determine what impact you had on yourself.

“After I gave this answer you looked at me with a smirk or half smile - which showed you did not fully accept what I was telling you, and you said, ‘I did this to myself.’

“On the morning of Saturday, February 24, 2007 Brother Jabril was the best we had seen him.  He was joking, laughing and smiling.  He slept for six hours and recognized, for the first time, that he was no longer in ICU. We talked a bit some more, as we looked after him and in between tests, which included a walk down the hall by a physical therapist to a window overlooking downtown Phoenix.  He seemed to enjoy it (even laughing) when I showed him what aspects of the physical therapy he did not do so well on, and the basic questions he did not answer too well. 

“We practiced the right movements and the right answers together. 

For the first time, I saw that excited, inquisitive and curious look he normally gets on his face when he is learning something new.  He seemed fascinated (later on the morning of February 26^th, Brother Jabril would actually use that word twice, telling the medical personnel that this entire experience was ‘fascinating to me,’ as he put it.)

“It was clear to me that you did not literally or intentionally harm yourself.  I knew you did not mean that by your question, ‘Brother, did I do this to myself?’ ”

Many months later, in a discussion with Brother Cedric he said, with reference to a comment, that I made, while I was in the hospital, “I knew that the great effort and energy that you placed into getting Closing The Gap and the final edition of Is It Possible That The Honorable Elijah Muhammad Is Still Physically Alive??? out, to the public, was extraordinary, very grueling, and physically taxing.  The word ‘arduous’ comes to mind which means (according to yourdictionary.com): difficult to do; laborious; onerous, using much energy; strenuous; steep; hard to climb.”

“So, in that context, the answer to your question to me, ‘Brother, did I do this to myself?‘ could have been yes.  Although I am not a doctor, I knew that the stress could have been a contributing factor.’ ”

What caused my hospitalization on February 18, 2007? What can be learned from my experience? First, the diagnosis of my condition was “Hemorrhagic Stroke; Hypertension and Conduction Aphasia.” More on this later.

I was determined to finish that book, Closing The Gap, in March 2006, by the help of Allah, and to complete it before the ending of 2006. I was obligated to take a rest for myself. I didn’t. As soon as possible I was determined, by Allah’s help, to put out the 4^th edition, of Is It Possible That The Honorable Elijah Muhammad Is Still Physically Alive??? That printing contained the letter of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad pertaining to his future beyond 1975. It contained the response of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan to that letter. I thought to add it at the end of “More Of The Vision.” I had mentioned this in previous articles. But I could not do it. I didn’t rest. I’ll explain. It may help others.

I was planning to make this book (Closing the Gap) available, by the help of Allah, containing the profound and insightful answers to critical questions, for the followers of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, under the leadership of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, and others (the public) for several years.

I first thought of this book in the late eighties. Many events came up. Problems increased. A few were solved. Illness happened. But that thought persisted. The need was still there. My efforts were reduced from the time I was poisoned leading to a heart attack. That affected my effort to do what I could to help Minister Farrakhan in his efforts to carry out his mission.

My views are that of a follower of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad ever since 1955, and now under the leadership of Minister Farrakhan. By the start of 2006, I was reduced to working on two books, the weekly articles in The Final Call, responding to letters of Brothers in the prisons, and a few Believers.  That was the limit of what I could do, at that time.

I am of those who are aware that we all are living in that most dangerous time since time began. I have done my utmost to help my Brother, Minister Farrakhan, in his mission, and to help others to help him. Then one day four doctors told me that I was all but “out of here,” in December 2005. You may read the words of the doctors in my public statement at www.cuttingedgeknowledge.org.

In 1960 I heard these words: “Whenever you want to do good in this old wicked world, you are always tried to see if you really want to do it.”

The above words were spoken by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad, in what was then called, Muhammad Temple #2, Chicago, Illinois, in the spring of 1960. I was among those in the audience when he spoke these insightful words, forty-eight years ago. These words expresses a profound principle, rooted ultimately, in the law of the creation, of the first life and life since then.

One Sunday, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad came to teach on the subject: “The Lost Sheep.” At the outset, he told us not to respond to any points by clapping and the like since he was going to turn on his tape recorder at some point, for he intended that section of his speech to be aired later, on his radio program.

He got into it. It was deep, beautiful and inspiring. At a certain moment he reached down to turn on the tape recorder. Somehow the tape got tangled up. He looked so disgusted. Brother John Ali, the then National Secretary, came to his rescue. As he was fixing the problem, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad stated the words, I’d quoted from him, which I here repeat: “Whenever you want to do good in this old wicked world, you are always tried to see if you really want to do it.”

In Closing The Gap, and in countless other ways, the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, day by day, follows that principle. We would do likewise, if we follow him, in the same spirit—the spirit of Allah.

In Closing The Gap here are a few of my words, that was part of a question I asked Minister Farrakhan: “In August 1961, we attended a Minister’s Conference, during which the Honorable Elijah Muhammad said: “Some come to believe only but for a short time.” You’ve covered many times how we can become un-stunted and really make real progress, after our misunderstanding, which is implied in your great assignment from God and the Honorable Elijah Muhammad to you.

Minister Farrakhan said, in part, that the Holy Qur’an says:

“And if good befalls them, they say: ‘This is from Allah’; and if a misfortune befalls them, they say: ‘This is from thee.’ Say: ‘All is from Allah. But what is the matter with these people that they make no effort to understand anything?’ ” (4:78)

“What is the matter with you that you help not one another?” (37:25)

This was on July 10, 2002.

In March 2006 I had an experience that was more than a dream. It is stated in Closing The Gap, page 326, but a paragraph was cut out of it, that tells the reader what I did that led to the production of Closing The Gap.

I am touching what promoted my efforts to produce the first of two books in that year—2006.

             Jabril Muhammad: Dear Brother Minister, to reiterate, I don’t remember the exact date when you and your party were in Cuba when I had an experience that I have mentioned to you twice. It seemed like it was very short. I woke up in it. It was maybe 5:30am when I woke up; when I knew I had just seen the Honorable Elijah Muhammad as clear as day. In the scene he was more to my left. I saw you. You were somewhat less clear and a little below the middle of the scene and somewhat towards the right. Almost simultaneously I heard what seemed to me to be a contingent, I wouldn’t say troops, but a small contingent or body of troops coming from over towards the upper right. That’s where their sound came from.

Then the Honorable Elijah Muhammad said to me, “They are coming for me in him.” Immediately, I knew he was referring to you. I woke up and the scene was still there. I thought to call you, but I said no that would be very improper. Moreover, I probably couldn’t reach him anyway. But it had an impact on me and then of course, when I got a chance I shared it with you.

A few words later:

Now, Brother Minister, I would like for you to tell me what you think about that experience. “They are coming for me in him.”

 

Minister Farrakhan: First, it’s a very profound experience that answers many questions for me personally and probably for others as well.

I hope you will read the rest of his answer.

Minister Farrakhan made a talk in Phoenix, Arizona on June 30, 2006 based on that experience or vision? Lastly, in October 2008, I asked him a question that he answered which corresponded to what I saw in the hospital last year February 2007. I have tried to state it over the last two months. Be it the will of Allah we’ll get to that in Aphasia 5.

After Closing The Gap was printed, I saw that some of my words were cut from the final printing of the book. I put those words in The Final Call, Volume 28 Number 4. Be it the will of Allah it will be printed into the next edition.

It was my vision that makes clear what promoted my efforts, in March of 2006. It makes clear why I am using the word “promoted.”

Promoted or to promote, means to encourage the growth and development of something, to publicize a product so that people will buy or rent it, to further something by helping to arrange or introduce it.

Here is what I did and wrote: “About six days, based on this vision, I telephoned Brother Marlon, in New York City, who knew some of my physical problems, who contacted other Brothers and Sisters to get to work on aspects of the “Gap Book.” A day or so I telephoned Brother Steve (who lives in Phoenix) to please get a believer to get ready to make a translation of this book into Spanish. I asked for other help.”

Later, after the book was published, a few of Minister Farrakhan’s followers put the book into French. After I went into my present condition, in the hospital, I lost contact with them. I lost the ability to make emails, etc.

            I won’t get into the steps, or the stages, and the number of people, and the amount of time and money, that was needed to produce and ship 30,000 books of Closing The Gap to The Final Call building in Chicago.  It required much spiritual and physical energy to produce that work—and love for the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and for the Believers.

            At the end of the interview regarding his trials, Minister Farrakhan mentioned that he did not know what it would cost to print the book and he did not know if he had enough money to pay for the printing of the book. This shows his intention and his heart. He did not know that it was always my intention to produce and pay for it. Overtime, my health went down, so I wanted to find people who will pay for the printing of the book. Even as he was talking, I smiled because I already had a group of people willing to pay for the printing of the book.

            Later on, when we learned what it would cost to print and ship the books, the Believers stepped up to the plate and paid for it. At this moment, I don’t have the exact figure in my head, but I can say it was approximately $60,000. Later, the book was printed, the Minister wanted to know what it cost. I told him. He paid for it. He paid each person back. 

            Instead of taking a rest, I went right into the next book, even before Closing The Gap were shipped, A few other Believers and I went to work to prepare the book titled Is It Possible That The Honorable Elijah Muhammad Is Still Physical Alive???.

            That book has had a troublesome history. It continues to have one. Right up this moment. That was and is Allah’s will.

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan recommended to me to publish the words that formed the heart of this book in 1982. He also recommended the titled of this material. I accepted. 

Read the answer by the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan: On page 347 of Closing The Gap we read: Jabril Muhammad: Brother Minister, I would appreciate it, for myself, and everybody who reads this book, that you take us sequentially through your trials. What are trials?

The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan: Well first, what is a trial? A trial is that which brings forth from the person being tried what is hidden of both good and evil.

Trials make manifest what is within. This is why Allah says that He will try the Believers at least once a year—severely. Trials make manifest. The manifestation of defects leads to the perfection of the human being.

            Please, study all of his answer. This has a bearing on what I hope that you will continue to read all of this statement and the next one (Aphasia 5).

            In the United States, approximately 700,000 strokes occur each year. I was one of them. Most people who suffered from a stroke understand very little about it. Generally many of their relatives and friends lack the understanding of it. The exception of course, is relatives or friends who are in the medical field especially if they are doctors.

            The level of facts or truths that the people involved in these situations varies. It depends on motives, levels of knowledge and where the knowledge came from. I suppose people have written books on this.

During a stroke, one or more areas of the brain can be damaged. Depending upon the area affected, a person may lose the ability to move one side of the body, the ability to speak, or a number of other functions. The damage may be temporary or permanent, and the function may be partially or completely lost. A person’s long-term outcome depends upon how much brain is damaged, how quickly treatment begins, and a number of other factors.

Hemorrhage is the medical term for bleeding. Hemorrhagic stroke occurs when blood vessels in the brain leak or rupture, causing bleeding in or around the brain. About 20 percent of strokes are hemorrhagic strokes. Damage can occur quickly due to the pressure of increasing amounts of blood or because of the blood itself. Blood is irritating to the brain tissue, causing it to swell.

Bleeding around the brain is referred to as subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) and is often caused by rupture of an abnormal blood vessel (aneurysm) on the surface of the brain. Bleeding into the brain is called intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) and is often caused by high blood pressure.

            I had an intracerebral hemorrhagic stroke. What was my condition before and after this stroke? I’m going to share a few facts. I have my own medical records. I’ve had the privilege of asking question of doctors. I’ve also had the “privilege” to learn from people who had varying levels of interest in my condition with different motives.

            I had the opportunity and privilege, over the last 10 years, since I was poison, to listen and ask questions of Dr. Patina Muhammad and a variety of people, mostly medical persons, and some of whom were not medical persons at all. I’ve learned much. My attitude is stated in my public statement—especially the closing paragraph.

            Among the varying experiences I’ve had, during the last 10 years, medically speaking, was being accused by a doctor that I was a drug addict. He based that on the fact that the medicines he had given me for high blood pressure was not working. This was in 2003. I’ve had other medical experiences that were the opposite of that kind of experience.

            After being discharged in February 2007, from the hospital, I was taken to a doctor for the purpose of controlling my high blood pressure. He was not successful in controlling my high blood pressure and my condition got worse. Several times, he told me that he would not refer me for Aphasia treatment until my blood pressure was under control. This doctor knew that I was to follow up with treatment for aphasia. The effect of his work was over medicated.

            Now, I don’t want to make this complicated. That will become very boring and too long. But I intend to uncomplicate it soon, be the will of Allah.

On July 4^th 2007, I wrote a letter in which I informed my children that I changed doctors. I informed them I was being over-medicated. It was killing me. I contacted another doctor that I have not been in contact with for 21 years. The last time I saw him was in 1987. Before he became a doctor he had attended the Mosque in Phoenix.

In my public statement, I mentioned that I had to go into hospitals beyond the time I had the stroke in February 2007, in which I open this article with an aspect of a conversation with Brother Cedric. Please refer to my public statement for the context in which I was readmitted to the hospital in October 2007. It was for the fact that the blood pressure medicines, I was put on, was not working. This is now January 2009. A year ago I was rushed to a hospital. It was not for a stroke. It was for the effects of not having treatment for aphasia after being discharged in March 2007.

I am putting this here to drive home a major fact Minister Farrakhan taught in Closing The Gap and teaches time and again. This is essential if we are to get through this time.

It was, on January 2, 2008, to make it short, Dr. Patina Muhammad rushed me to a hospital. It was, the doctors said, for a form of worsening aphasia called Global Aphasia.  Global Aphasia is “almost a total reduction of all aspects of spoken and written language, in expression as well as comprehension.” There were other witnesses present with her in the hospital. I’m not going to get into the medical details except to say that a Neurologist, who was on call, at the hospital and taking calls for my regular Neurologist told Dr. Patina that, “He is not going to come out of this state.” This is verified in my medical records. That Neurologist wanted to send me to a Skilled Care Facility, which to me is a fancy name for a Nursing Home—that I call “jail.” Perhaps I will explain this in clearer terms. She thought she was right. But, based on what?

She did not know what I was able to do just the previous day and beyond.  She did not know me and never saw me in her life. At the moment, I could not for example make a phone call, write or say my name, touch my nose when they asked me etc. As a matter of fact they wondered if I spoke or understood English.

That was last January. If she was right, I would not be typing these words and you would not be reading these words.

Dr. Patina had to “fight” and overcome three doctors. Then she had to win over the three Therapists in the hospital to convince them that I would benefit from therapy.

Out of this “victory” I was discharged to a rehabilitation hospital, where I received intensive treatment for two weeks.  Then I was discharged. Since that time, by the help of Allah—I’m able to speak, but with difficulty. However, I am improving with ongoing treatments.

My son, Elijah, told me few a days after I was discharged from the hospital in 2007 that one of the doctors told him, while I was unconscious, that I had a good chance to make it.  Elijah told me that the doctor told him that I was manifesting a strong will; determination; motivation. A few days later I “woke” up. When I woke up I asked three questions in front of three Brothers that is contained in my public statement. 

Months later, I learned from three doctors, one of which told my son, about those factors, in connection with my condition, and of other people suffering similar problems. It has much to do with whether or not you live or die.

Each time I think about those factors, I think of the words of Minister Farrakhan in Closing The Gap that must be understood and we must apply it, in order to get through this serious time.

I want to close with these questions. Is it possible that 99 percent, or more, of the medical professionals are overlooking the root problem of high blood pressure? What is the root reason why Black people in America suffer from high blood pressure more than any other group? Was it by design or from ignorance or from a combination of complexity of factors?

I learned something that is very profound about cancer and high blood pressure. Be it the will of Allah, I’ll get to this in Aphasia 5, which will be out shortly, be the will of Allah.

I started this writing approximately six weeks ago and finished it today January 17, 2009.   I hope you are benefitted from it. I’m about to end this series of writing.

God’s accuracy may be observed in the hatching of eggs.

.  Each watermelon has an even number of strips on the rind.
.  Each orange has an even number of segments.
.  Each ear of corn has an even number of rows.

.  Every bunch of bananas has on its lowest row an even number of bananas, and each row decreases by one, so that one row has an even number and the next row an odd number.

.  The waves of the sea roll In on shore twenty-six to the minute in all kinds of weather.

.  The Lord specified Thirtyfold, sixtyfold, and a hundredfold - all even numbers.
.  God has caused the flowers to blossom at certain specified  times during the day, so that Linneus, the great botanist, once said that if he had a conservatory containing the right kind of soil, moisture and temperature, he could tell the time of day or night by the flowers that were open and those that were closed.
. Thus the Lord in His wonderful grace can arrange the life that is entrusted to His care in such a way that it will carry out His purposes and plans, and will be fragrant  with His presence.
. Only the God-planned life is successful. Only the life given over to the care of the Lord is safe.
